Events Marketing Manager

Foreign Policy (FP) is seeking a talented and tech-savvy Events Marketing Manager to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to leverage your technical expertise to drive successful event marketing campaigns that promote the FP brand, grow and engage our audiences and impact global discourse. In addition, you will play a key role in analyzing data and metrics to measure campaign success and identify areas of opportunity, helping to shape the future of Foreign Policy events.

We are looking for a self-starter who is flexible and can think critically in high-pressure situations, with the ability to multitask to meet deadlines, all while working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders. As an important part of our team, you will contribute to high-profile live and virtual events, collaborate with experts in various fields, and grow and develop your skills quickly while making an impact in the world of international affairs journalism.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage marketing campaigns for events, including email marketing, social media campaigns, and other promotional efforts, using platforms such as Sailthru, and Zkipster

  • Curate, manage, and grow the audience database, building marketing lists and segmenting target audiences for different messages where appropriate.

  • Utilize WordPress to build and manage event websites, ensuring that content is updated and accurate, and suggesting improvements to the user experience.

  • Write compelling marketing and social media copy that effectively promotes FP events and engages our audience.

  • Manage events-related assets, including graphics, videos, and other digital assets that support our events using platforms like Vimeo, SmugMug, and Dropbox.

  • Live production collaboration with event A/V teams and management of website during and after events, including both on-site and remote support

  • Manage and track event metrics, utilizing analytics tools to analyze data, measure the success of campaigns, and identify areas for improvement

  • Collaborate with subscriptions team to enhance understanding of event audiences and design actionable strategies for turning casual attendees into loyal (and paying) followers of the brand

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, international relations or related field

  • 2-3 years of experience in marketing, with a strong technical background in digital marketing and website management

  • Proficiency in WordPress and other digital platforms, including social media platforms, email service providers, and digital analytics tools (or confidence in the ability to learn and master them quickly)

  • Strong writing abilities and a grasp of global news and international affairs

  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work

  • Interest in international affairs and a desire to engage with diverse audiences on critical global issues

  • Preferred events experience

  • Willingness to travel to events as required

The salary range for this role is $65,000 to $80,000 per year.

Working at Foreign Policy

Our headquarters are located in Washington, D.C. We offer a flexible hybrid model, and while people do use the office regularly, staff are only required to work from the office one day a month. All U.S.-based staff convene in D.C. a few times a year. FP staff members are encouraged to take advantage of our “One Month From Anywhere” program to work from the location of their choice for one month each year.
