Foreign Policy Analytics (FPA), the independent research and advisory division of Foreign Policy, is building a roster of independent contractors to support our slate of short- and long-form research projects on geopolitics and security, global health, climate change, gender and equality, technology, international trade and development, energy, and other related topics.
Selected independent contractors will conduct quantitative and qualitative research, draft proprietary and/or public-facing reports, and generate insights and actionable intelligence for FPA’s partnerships. We are seeking candidates who are communicative and collaborative with relevant expertise, qualifications, and professional experience.

Selected candidates will
Conduct desktop and primary research and analysis as needed across a range of international policy issues and sectors, including: national and international security, emerging technologies, climate and energy, gender and equality, trade and development
Collect, analyze, and visualize data from a range of sources
Conduct economic trend and statistical analysis
Conduct semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and/or surveys
Draft short- and long-form research products such as issue briefs and in-depth reports
Skills and Qualifications
Graduate Degree (e.g. MA, MPP, MS, Ph.D.) in political science, international relations, economics, public policy, or other related fields
Proven track record of high-quality qualitative and quantitative research, analytical rigor, and attention to detail
Prior project management experience, scoping and leading research projects
Excellent English Language writing abilities; proven track record of producing clear, concise, and compelling analysis
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver projects on time and on or under budget
Highly proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including manipulating large datasets and data visualization
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in analytics performing exploratory data analysis, and drafting reports relevant to international affairs
Exceptional ability to intuit, understand, and clearly communicate the meaning of data analyses in a concise, compelling manner
Non-English language skills are a plus
Eligibility to work in, and based in the United States
The compensation for contracts will be based on the scope of work and commensurate with experience. Contract compensation will be based on deliverables.
