Foreign Policy’s finance department is seeking an experienced accountant to join the financial accounting and reporting team. As a part of this team, you will be responsible for monthly and annual general ledger close procedures with an emphasis on revenue recognition and expense reporting across the business.

You will

• Prepare monthly journal entries for revenue and expense accruals, variance-to-budget analyses for income statement accounts, month-over-month variance analyses for balance sheet accounts, and general ledger account reconciliations.
• Meet monthly and annual reporting deadlines, both internal and external.
• Collaborate with appropriate business counterparts’ teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of the data that flows to the general ledger.
• Prepare schedules and supporting data in conjunction with the issuance of annual financial statements and tax filings as requested.
• Prepare data and schedules for audit requests during interim and year-end audit cycles, supporting both external and internal audits.
• Prepare data and schedules in support of the annual budget and interim forecasts.
• Update and/or create documentation of processes and procedures to enhance the overall quality of journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and financial reporting efforts.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses, participate in special projects, and perform other duties as assigned.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

You have

• A Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
• 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience.
• A demonstrated understanding of accounting and financial concepts.
• Clear and concise communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
• Advanced Excel skills
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• The ability to read and analyze financial reports.
• A love of details with demonstrated initiative in research and follow-through.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience with Quickbooks (preferred)

The salary range for this role is $80,000-$110,000. Final base salary will be determined by numerous factors, including relevant skills and experience.
